That Certain Je Ne Sais Quoi?

A few weeks back Bill Cunningham of the New York Times ("On the Street") profiled Parisian chic style from the front row of the Chanel s/s 2011 collection. After seeing the front row, I just had to see the show in its entirety. Luckily, the magnificent production is on the Chanel website (www.chanel.com). King Karl constructed an ornamental garden as leggy models graced the catwalk to the tune of some 80 string musicians in some of the most breathtaking fashions I have seen in some time. The details were impeccable, as is expected by Lagerfeld, but there was an edge, or unfinished texture, to the clothes that made them so desirable. And of course the collection wouldn't be complete without some sumptuous pastels, a classic Chanel suit, and an appearance or two by the iconic quilted Chanel Jumbo flap bag.

All of this Parisian fashion has had me dreaming about Paris and France ever since, and it has made me take notice of just how well dressed (and thin!) the French really are.

Two of my fave French stylistas...Poppy Delevigne & Clemence Poesy

Clemence Poesy

As luxe as these pieces are, Parisian inspired pieces are popping up in the mass market at retailers like H&M, Zara, and Urban Outfitters. The key to this style is to mix basic pastels with decorated extras. Try it out!
